I have officially started Nanowrimo 2006.

The theme this year is short chapters. People love short chapters because they’re sort of blog-esque in the fact that it makes things small and digestable (like M&M’s!).

Here is the first chapter I have written.

Let me tell you about a book I’m writing.

Guy smiled politely but his jaw clenched. He tried to unclench but decades of disaffected youth and cynicism would not allow him such luxury. Instead he listened on as another one of the guests rattled on about his book on investment strategy. More specifically, on how the real estate market guaranteed smart investors 27% return and how it ran circles around the pathetic puddle of returns that is the stock market.

That’s the entire first chapter. I have about 391 words altogether right now and I hope to have 3000 by midnight tonight. Wish me luck!

Update As it turns out, I only managed 1045 words tonight. Oh well, better luck tomorrow.
