Hey I’m there now

For those that don’t know, I made it to Seattle. The 14-hour flight to LA was cramped, depressing and lonely but somehow I survived. Right now I am completely shellshocked by the fact that I’m in America and I have to fend for myself but I’m doing ok.

I live 20 minutes from Seattle and 20 minutes from work

I have met up with Studds and together we successfully drove my rented Chevrolet Impala home from Sea-Tac Airport to Mercer Island; my temporary home for the next two months. We have (overpriced) food, (pretty decent) shelter and free internet at a place about 2 minutes walk away. Don’t get any dreams about Manhattan living because I am stuck out here in the middle of suburbia and I have to drive to get anywhere.

There are like a zillion things to say but just know this: I am alive and well and I miss everyone back in Melbourne like you wouldn’t believe. Most of all I miss the internet.

Jetlag sucks

The first day, I walked into my apartment jetlagged and freaking tired and all I found was an empty fridge. After looking at my options and putting a bit of investigation into it, I decided just to call for Domino’s. Also, the directory assistance robot will not understand Australian accents so it pays to learn how to impersonate an American.

That is all for now. I hope to hear from all of you really soon.

Love,
Jack xoxo

Your all missing the important question - was the Chev Impala you drove rolling on 20’s. Its gotta be 20’s or the boys are simply not gonna respect you.

(On a side note - glad to hear your alive and well Studds and Jack, look forward to see some photos)

Where’s all the American junk food?

Hui-Ai: We went to the needle but it was too cloudy to bother going up. I might go up on a really clear day when it’s not winter.

Mike: No, I think they’re like 15’s or something boring like that. You’ll be pleased to know that I’m getting 25 miles per gallon (i.e. really fucking wasteful for a regular family sedan).

Jerry: So far I’ve had McDonalds, Domino’s and cheap food in Chinatown. I’m trying to stay healthy and avoid falling into bad habits (god it is so tempting to just buy TV dinners instead of cooking).
