In passing…

My brain is all over the place, I can’t write one concentrated post.

I was listening to this radio show on the drive home on Friday night. I think it was NPR or something. It was a human interest story on some high school where an overwhelming number of children had parents that were currently deployed in Iraq. I found it really sad. Especially the part about how they had a football game against another school and after the game, they got a gift from this other school because they saw how few parents were in the stands. It all just felt so unfair.

Oh and when I got home I got to talk on the phone with a bunch of my friends and it was really great to hear everyone’s voices. It didn’t feel quite right because the clock was being watched the entire time but it was good to talk and is something that should happen more often.

Omigawd

All sense of self-respect melted yesterday because The CW channel ran a marathon of Season 7 of America’s Next Top Model. I had the TV on that channel for most of the day. I’d actually recommend any insecure teenage girls to watch this because there’s a dramatic difference in appearance between when the girls are living their lives and when they are at a photo shoot and it’s pretty obvious that they cannot look the way they do without the magic of make up, lighting and Photoshop. The downside is that there is a lot of manufactured conflict. And Tyra Banks is going a little crazy.

Walking in the rain

Today I spent some money. I hiked out to Urban Outfitters to buy some clothes. I like them because they are pretty hip and they play nothing but awkward-boy indie rock; my favorite. I dropped some money on a new jacket/hoodie thing and a shirt with a cartoon smoking bird on it. There was an overwhelming temptation to buy the shirt that had a piñata and the caption, “I’D HIT THAT” but I think the novelty wears off when you see a stack of 10 of the same shirt in a store that popular.

But. I feel good now. I own clothes that were purchased in America. It’s some sort of psychological victory for me.

Mmm… prime beef

Also, today I went down to the Pike Place Market and get a ribeye steak for dinner tonight. Jesus, that steak was expensive. And thick. And delicious. I cooked the whole thing and realized I could realistically only eat half. So, uh, tomorrow I will find out how good this steak is when it is reheated.

Also, I went and looked at T-Mobile for a bit. Looks like I might sign up with them, pick up a Motorola RAZR and then (when I finally get paid) I will buy an unlocked Sony Ericsson K790a so I can take photos! Woohoo! Yay for spending!

I figure you’ve got lots of free time to watch TV, so its not really surprising that you’d watch a bunch of shit. I’d also like to point out that I watch a lot of shit which is way worse than that :(

Dude, do you have Discovery Channel?

Dog Whisperer is the bomb. It is just the most amazing show to watch ever.
