Gotta get out of this place

Mornings before work are tense. Lip-bitingly tense. Why?

Because… work! Gotta go! Gotta pay your dues! Win some bread! Bring home the bacon!

What I brought home was more bacon fat than bacon

The sun is out today and I will be walking about 6 blocks to the bus stop. Everything here is measured in blocks, it is the best measurement ever. It is good because estimating distance in blocks gives you an authoritative answer but with plenty of wriggle room. Nobody really counts the blocks, they just want a ball park figure.

The sun is very rarely out. The weather lady said that yesterday was the start! The start of Spring! It felt cold as hell. My head was very cold on the walk between my building and the bus stop; cold enough to consider buying a scarf or a beanie.

9:02am now. Gotta go to work! Going to look at more apartments tomorrow morning!

get a beanie, then you can look like a dockworker. While you’re at it get on of those blue woolen coats that sailors wear. Then you will be warm and you can …umm…go pick up sailors at the docks?

A vote for the scarf from me - far more versatile; can be used to wrap head if necessary.

I have this old puffy jacket that belonged to my dad. I love it.

It sort of does make me look like a dock worker but that’s awesome because nobody looks twice at me and people do not ask me for money.

    Can I have some money?

Don’t talk to me about money… 1 AUD = 0.80 USD now! Pretty soon it will be 1:1 and there’ll be no point in returning to Australia.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who almost died from exposure in the frozen north, if you have to choose between a beanie and a scarf, go for the beanie.

Try a neck gaiter, usually used for skiiing. Even the thin, light, relatively inexpensive ones are good at stopping cold wind, and they’re versatile.
