Ok, I’ve very obviously made a mistake in this latest blog design. Because it’s a pain in the ass to read the front page. I had no idea I would link to so much (really good) shit.
Any ideas?
Subscribe to RSS feeds: all blog updates, blog posts only (no daily links) or comments.
I like the links… you could: *link to the real posts at the top! *list only a couple of random links between each post, click for more *you could make the “there are three posts on this page” a toggle that disappears the links. yay for crappy interface! given you post only every few days, having fresh links at the top is nice. means i can always get my boxofjack fix… unlike that red butterfly and terminal story. jokes for nerds!
Columns!
Sidebars aren’t a bad idea, really (e.g. mezzoblue style). One column is good if you’re continuously posting on message, but your regular update balance is more skewed to the links and if you want to maintain the core of your design I think it’d make some sense to split out.
That or just rebalance the links so they’re not as out of place (e.g. Simple Bits, Kottke, A Whole Lotta Nothing).
