Better Than Real Cars

What have I been up to lately? Pfft, sweet fuck all.
I am enjoying playing Forza Motorsport 2 though. I’m enjoying it so much that I look at roads and try to draw imaginary racing lines. But I’m not in anyway a good fast or knowledgeable driver. Just today I realized that AWD makes things a lot easier (because I suck at cornering). Tomorrow I’ll probably discover what that second pedal does; the one I’m using at the moment makes me go forward so I can only assume this one makes me go backward.
Anyway here are my cars:

My Toyota MR-S
I’m not sure if you can make out the detail but the blue gets subtly lighter toward the middle. Check out that awesome bird silhouette. I’m tempted to put a red string in the bird’s beak so I can pay post-ironic homage to Death Cab For Cutie.

My GTI with the V6 engine from the old R32
Those leaves are preset vinyls, I didn’t draw them out of basic shapes. This GTI looks very plain and dull, I like the idea I started with but I need to add more to actually make it worthwhile.
The in-game editor to paint your cars is pretty basic but people are drawing amazing things with it. I’m erring on the side of caution and doing two things:
- Keeping my designs minimal
- Designing as if it was bed linens rather than a high performance car
I like these designs because they’re pretty basic. I wish I could draw what I actually imagine in my head though.

I don’t mind the MR, nice wheels. The Golf is alright, though imo the leaves all need to be the same colour, and maybe change the wheels. And so concludes Mikes useless comment for the week :-)
Yeah the Golf is really half-baked. I’m tempted to spend a lot more time in the editor to learn its secrets but maybe that time would be better spent web designings.
Hi Jack! Just dropping by to say I love your blog. Very well written, very interesting! The format is great, too–it is unique and attractive, and very easy on the eyes. The only thing that takes some adjusting to is the link text — it is small like adverts are on other pages, so new visitors might not realize what they are at first. But once my eyes adjusted to the text size, I find that I really like the format. :)
Thanks Courtney!
Enjoy the layout while you can… I have a feeling I’m going to change it soon. :)
(I update on a whim. I’m very whimsical. Yep. Whismy.)
