Design #9

Here is the new design. There is not much to say right now but I will probably update this post later.
The header photo is this one of a parking garage somewhere a few miles south of downtown Seattle. Hopefully I’ll rotate out the header image when I take more interesting photos that work in a wide format.
I must warn you, I have not tested this on a PC at all. All I’ve tested in is Firefox for Mac and Safari 2.x for Mac. If crazy shit starts happening, rest assured that I’ll fix it over the course of this week.
I’ve turned off comments on all the old posts to stop the spam.
P.S. I nicknamed this design “bird machine”.

Ok so based on the feedback, I’ve tweaked the styles to display a bit better in Windows and in Internet Explorer. Things to do with font metrics, default spacing differences, PNG transparency and poltergeists. Should be fine for people unless they are using Internet Explorer 6. It’s probably time to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or use Firefox.
Generally a pretty darn positive response which proves once and for all that the previous design was rubbish. I knew it deep down but I was in denial and also I wanted Fubar to be wrong because he’s a loser.
I love this design! I’m not just saying that to suck upto you so you’ll fix my computer either Jack! Really easy on the eyes, and so far I haven’t had any problems being on a PC and Firefox, links work etc. :-)

BTW, the photos in the main content section overlap the right-hand sidebar a little.

Dennis: if you’re seeing overlap then you’re probably one of the few people in the world with your default font size set to something lower than 16. I’ve fixed it now by having the image cropped if it gets too big. You can view this site at a larger font size by just hitting Ctrl and +
The rubber ducky is and isn’t a Ze Frank reference. But yeah I guess he really owns that meme.
hmm, interesting, interesting… a change for sure. I’m not a big fan of light-on-dark no matter how readable it’s supposed to be…
Pedantic Usability Point - when I click on the header, on a link that looks like it’s going to take me “home”, both in the status bar and the tooltip, I don’t expect/necessarily want the little slide-down menu =/

Man this site looks great on Safari 3 for Windows. I am pretty smart after all.
Besides, weren’t you using the dark Hemingway theme for the longest time?
yeah, on my alterna-blog, but that was mainly to differentiate from my main one which was light hemmingway. I’ve learnt the error of my ways.
Also, sexier on Mac, I must say.
