Beyond My Years

Do you think I’m running out of time to sound smart for my age? My thinking is that all through childhood and young adulthood, there’s a certain expectation of intelligence but after a certain age, you enter the “anything goes” zone. In this zone, you could be some hyper-elite intellectual or the guy at accidentally shoots himself in the foot with a shotgun. Or both.

I think it moves from “intelligence” to “maturity” as a measure of age – but then again, smartness becomes an independent idea and you’re no longer ‘smart for your age’ but just plain ‘smart’, and if that happens to be smarter than the older ones then you’re doing pretty well relatively.
