My Dreams Are Getting Scary
Sun, 03 Feb 2008.
I believe this dream is a continuing one but I’m not sure. It’s some sort of weird spy game. I’m with friends amongst a larger group of strangers and we’re doing touristy things or team-building exercises as part of the group. But the activities are being organized by a sinister power that is toying with us. We can only barely see what its motives are but it has recognised our awareness and it separates us from the group to drop us confusing clues before returning us to the group. These clues appeared in my mind’s eye like flash cards.
I remember the group was walking through a field at night and we were led through a different gate. The next scene, we were at another group activity. Rowing or something. I don’t know what happened when we went through that other gate but it was kind of dark.
All of this went around and around. More activites, more clues, more flashes of amnesia. Eventually it bled into another dream I had once. In this dream, I got out of bed and I distinctly remember I left the front door unlocked. The living room is dark and warped and a thick green fog touches everything. A twisty, distopian clown enters through the door with an equally creepy, soggy box of pizza. He doesn’t notice me but I yell, “Hey you! Get the fuck out!” and he leaves.
I remember dreaming this before. After I yell at him to leave, I tell myself to wake up. I wake up, I get out of bed and the room is still dark and green and the front door is still open. The first thought in my head is that when movie characters wake up only to be in another dream, they eventually see something scary enough to wake them up to the real world.
No sooner had I thought this, and old high school classmate walks out of my bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. I clap my hands to the said of my face and pretend I’m the kid from Home Alone. AHH!!
I wake up for real. I say to myself, “That was kind of cool.”
