If—

Excerpt from \"If\", by Rudyard Kipling, sketched into a Moleskine

An excerpt from If— by Rudyard Kipling

One day in high school, our English teacher started quoting some of this poem and we all stared at her blankly. The next day, she had printed off copies for the class and we sat there as she read it aloud melodramatically. This poem was not part of the curriculum, it was just something she liked and saw fit to share.

that is pretty cool. Most teachers don’t even bother to think outside the box. No pun intended.

Tiff: That’s awesome. I’m gonna do that for my kids.

poodlegoose: I never read any of Kipling’s other works. I suppose I should, huh? Any recommendations for a good place to start?

chris: Lol, I’m not sure that is a pun. But this English teacher was very cool, she taught about genuine interest and passion for the language rather than just reciting the same old crap. Also, she wrote for a subversive political newsletter under a nom de plume. Awesome.

    Well hello!

Our mutual good friend Adeline pointed me to your blog yesterday. I think I met you at venus bay like 2 yrs ago. (Remeber? the indian dude that wasn’t Jason? The really funny one. Yep that’s him!)

Anyway - just thought I’d say “keep up the good work” on the blog and all that jazz - your updates are far more substantial than most of the blogs I check =P

His “Just So” stories are really good, and if you get the Barnes and Noble copy, it also comes with the Jungle Book. :)
