4th of July Weekend

In chronological order:

  1. Japanese class started again, difficulty has been turned up
  2. Filipino food for dinner
  3. Gin cocktail with egg white and pomegranate bitters (actually tasted good)
  4. Awkwardness of a friend having to deal with the presence of an almost-girlfriend (now an ex-almost-girlfriend)
  5. Two new shirts and a super soft sweater from J. Crew ($150)
  6. Happy hour with hot wings and beer
  7. Moments later, a Korean fried chicken dinner
  8. AMF = Vodka, rum, tequila, gin, Sprite and blue Curacao in a tall glass
  9. Awesome karaoke songs like Weezer’s Say It Ain’t So, Faith by George Michael, Eminem’s Cleaning Out My Closet
  10. Being called a pimp for having two drunk girls cozy up to me (nothing happened, I am just a big teddy bear)
  11. Friend’s little sister escorted out of downstairs bar for looking very sick
  12. Friend’s little sister puked all over the karaoke place’s bathroom
  13. Angry Chinese owner politely telling us not to puke all over the bathroom next time
  14. Friend lost an heirloom of notable sentimental value
  15. Woke up, ate brunch, drove home and went back to sleep
  16. More Korean food
  17. Wine and cheese in a friend’s gorgeous “skylounge”
  18. Shivered on the rooftop of a Belltown apartment building, waiting for the fireworks to start
  19. Finally made a “that’s what she said” when someone demanded to get this over with already because she was cold and bored
  20. Watched the fireworks as they happened on Alki beach, Bainbridge Island, Queen Anne Hill and under the Space Needle (I love how Seattle is so flat)
  21. Discussed plans to rent a boat next weekend

Life is good. It is sometimes complicated, sometimes leaves me wanting and sometimes disappoints or frustrates but overall, I can’t complain about anything that’s happened this year. It’s been an astounding six months and I couldn’t ask for much more than this.
