About this Design
I redesign this blog when I don’t feel like blogging. According to the filenames, this is the eighth version but to be honest, I can’t really remember most of them. I never archive them but I guess if you do some snooping, you might see some old designs.
I’m not a professional designer by any measure but I do know how to put together a good web page. My process involves lots of pen and paper. I love the tactile touch to everything and it makes my work feel that extra bit unique.
Words unspoken
After pen and paper, I move to Adobe Fireworks and sometimes I jump straight into TextMate. How do I decide where to design? I pick the fastest tool. My creativity is fleeting at best, and I like something that best captures the fuzzy image in my head in the shortest time.
Over-indulgence
I use Wordpress because it is easy to customize and has tons of plugins. It doesn’t have the most elegant code base and not everybody likes PHP but it works well for the layperson and even better for the power user. Few blog engines can claim that.
I designed this eighth version while keeping something important in mind: my design influences what I write. If it looks like a newspaper, I write like a journalist. If it has big headlines, I try to write witty things in the headlines. If there is small text, I tend to rant and write a lot more to fill up the space.
